Bahay (House) (2025)

Video (24hr loop, Colour, 3D Animation, Photogrammetry), Ongoing body of work
I resonate with the everyday: faux marble finishes, second-hand wooden furniture, novelty memorabilia. Some carry memory, others are ordinary yet strangely reminiscent. These household objects are like negotiations – whether as an exchange between different diasporic communities, an adaptation of Western aesthetics, or a family inheritance. Tradition is shared, ‘mistranslated’, and homogenised. A house becomes a liminal space.
I find both comfort and isolation in these spaces – suspended between worlds, at times disconnected from both, and yet uniquely and specially my own. Through this I begin to notice new, old, alternative, and unusual things I connect with.
