LEGASPI

I acknowledge the Bunurong and Wadawurrung Peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land on which I live and create. Their art and cultural practices have thrived for millennia, and continue to live and flourish on this land today. I pay my respects to their ancestors and Elders past, present, and emerging, and to all First Nations people. Sovereignty was never ceded. This always was, and always will be Aboriginal land.

Justin Enrico Legaspi is a Filipino-Australian artist, writer, and youth worker based in Werribee, Naarm/Melbourne.
His interdisciplinary practice explores how identities and aspirations are shaped through contemporary objects, visual culture, built environments, and archival materials, within both diasporic and pop-culture contexts.
Across new media, sculpture, food, and writing, Legaspi draws on familial and migratory histories. His digital works engage with internet and consumer culture, with these practices occasionally intersecting and informing one another.
Legaspi is currently an Associate Journalist at Good News West, YLab.
He has exhibited and screened locally and nationally at Yarilla Arts and Museum, Fortyfivedownstairs, Bowery Theatre, Louis Joel Gallery, Oddany Gallery, Woods Street Arts Space, and Mixed Zoning. In 2025, he was awarded the Acquisitive Prize at the Still: National Still Life Award for his photogrammetric series Bahay (House) and was a finalist in the Emerging Artist Award at Fortyfivedownstairs for his video installation untitled (billboard). His work is held in the collections of Yarilla Arts and Museum, as well as in private collections.
